U.S. State Secretary discusses Syrian crisis with Egyptian counterpart
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. State Department announced on Saturday that Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a phone conversation with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to discuss the ongoing situation in Syria and efforts to support a peaceful and inclusive political transition.
In an official statement, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said, Secretary Blinken discussed with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty the situation in Syria.
The statement emphasized that Blinken reiterated the United States’ commitment to a Syrian-led and Syrian-owned political transition toward a government that is representative of its people and accountable to them.
“The Secretary reaffirmed U.S. support for an inclusive, Syrian-led and Syrian-owned peaceful political transition to a representative and accountable government,” the statement read.
He underscored the significance of the strategic partnership between the United States and Egypt, highlighting the countries’ shared role in addressing regional challenges.
