Former Syrian regime brigadier general found shot dead in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The body of Brigadier General Munif al-Ali, a former officer in the Syrian regime’s army, was discovered on Thursday in his home in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The discovery was made by his family, who found him in his bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds.

A local source from Deir ez-Zor said that al-Ali’s family had been in Damascus for about a week and lost contact with him two days before returning to find his body.

The incident has left the local community in shock, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Brigadier General al-Ali was originally from the town of Muhassan in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. He had previously served as an air defense officer in Homs before his retirement from the military.

The case is under investigation, with no official statements released yet regarding potential suspects or motives.

This tragic incident underscores the ongoing insecurity in Deir ez-Zor, a region marked by persistent instability and unresolved tensions.
