U.S.-led Global Coalition begins establishing new base in Kobani

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – The U.S.-led Global Coalition began on Thursday establishing a military base in the city of Kobani, northern Syria.

North Press correspondent documented trucks transporting concrete blocks to Kobani for the base’s construction.

The correspondent added that the convoy included logistical supplies such as prefabricated rooms, surveillance cameras, trench-digging equipment, concrete blocks, and fuel tanks.

A hotel has been designated as the central site for the Coalition’s base in the city center of Kobani.

In mid-December, General Brooks, commander of the Global Coalition in the Middle East, stated to North Press that areas in the east of Euphrates River are protected by international agreements. He emphasized that the Coalition would not tolerate instability in the area.

Notably, U.S. forces had withdrawn from Kobani in late 2019 during Turkey’s military operations in the Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye) and Tel Abyad.
