Israeli forces raid government offices in Syria’s Quneitra
QUNEITRA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces carried out on Monday a provocative incursion into the city of al-Baath in Quneitra Governorate, southern Syria, expelling employees from several government institutions under the pretext of searching for weapons.
A local source told North Press, the Israeli forces were accompanied by a tank during the raid, adding that a significant number of Israeli troops patrolled the streets of the city in military vehicles, with tanks stationed at its outskirts.
Residents of al-Baath expressed growing fears that these actions might signal preparations for a renewed occupation of Syrian territory. “The encroachments on public institutions and the visible military presence are deeply concerning,” one resident said.
This latest development follows an incident on Dec. 25 in the Quneitra countryside, where six individuals were injured during a protest after Israeli army forces reportedly targeted demonstrators.
