Airstrikes target former posts of Iran-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified warplanes conducted late on Monday night airstrikes on former posts of Iranian-backed militias and a weapons depot in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The strikes coincided with movements by the U.S.-led Global Coalition patrols in areas east of the Euphrates River.

A local source told North Press, the airstrikes targeted a weapons depot belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) at a former base near Ain al-Ali in the desert of al-Quriyah city.

The source also reported that three additional strikes hit locations in the deserts of al-Asharah and al-Dwair, specifically targeting former posts of the Iranian-backed Afghan Liwa Fatemiyoun and the Liwa al-Quds militias.

A local source in the town of Shuhail noted that the airstrikes occurred simultaneously with the deployment of Coalition patrols along the main roads in several villages and towns across eastern Deir ez-Zor.
