AANES urges Global Coalition to stop attacks on dam in Syria’s Manbij

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) appealed on Thursday to the U.S.-led Global Coalition to stop attacks on Tishrin Dam in the east of Manbij, northern Syria.

Aisha al-Nasser, co-chair of the AANES’ Energy Board in Kobani, told North Press that the attacks by Turkish-backed armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), caused a complete disruption of drinking water and electricity supplies to Kobani, Sarrin, and Ain Issa in northern Raqqa, Syria.

She explained that these sustained assaults over the past 20 days have rendered the dam permanently inoperable, depriving residents of 360 villages, including Kobani, Sarrin, and al-Jarniyah, of essential water and electricity services.

Al-Nasser highlighted the severe impact of these disruptions on the lives and living conditions of the affected communities, emphasizing the urgent need for action.

She called on the Coalition, as well as relief and human rights organizations, to intervene immediately to halt the attacks on the Dam and the Qaraqozaq Bridge.

She stressed that the dam is a vital service institution, crucial for providing electricity and water to the region’s residents.
