AANES calls for unity after actions against Alawites on Syrian coast
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) expressed on Thursday concern over actions targeting Syria’s Alawite community on the Syrian coast, as well as the burning of a Christmas tree in Hama and similar incidents in Homs in recent days.
The AANES asserted that such acts undermine Syria’s unity and future, adding that these actions “neither serve Syria’s interests nor its future,” and called for “the unification of Syrians and the establishment of a national model founded on justice and equality.”
The statement emphasized the urgent need to safeguard Syria’s diversity and cultural plurality, urging respect for symbols, customs, and traditions. It described the protection of the rights and duties of all affiliations, communities, and components as “a national duty that must not be violated.”
The AANES also warned that continued mismanagement of relations with any Syrian group or community by any entity would lead to instability, clashes, and conflicts, posing a grave threat to Syria’s unity.
The statement underlined the importance of unity and cooperation among Syria’s diverse communities. It called for building partnerships and fostering solidarity to resist divisive projects that incite conflict and rivalry.
