Kurdish-led SDF Announces Readiness to Join New Syrian Army

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday their willingness to merge with the newly formed Syrian Army, following the fall of the Assad regime. Farhad Al-Shami, head of SDF’s media center, stated to SkyNews that this move aligns with efforts to unify military forces across Syria under a single command.

Farhad Al-Shami emphasized that while the SDF is open to diplomatic solutions, it is also prepared for any military confrontation, particularly against Turkish-backed factions. He added, “Turkey seeks to expand its control over Syrian lands, and the SDF stands firmly against such plans.”

Al-Shami clarified that the PKK operates exclusively within Turkish territory and that SDF forces are stationed away from border regions, except for local security forces.

The announcement follows a meeting between Ahmad Al-Shara, the head of military operations in Syria, and leaders of armed factions, where they agreed to dissolve their groups and integrate into the Syrian Ministry of Defense, as reported by SANA.

Negotiations are still underway regarding the future of Manbij and other contentious regions. Al-Shami noted that the U.S. remains neutral in these discussions.
