French delegation meets with Kurdish parties in Syria’s Qamishli
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A French delegation met on Tuesday with representatives of Kurdish parties in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria.
Nesr al-Din Ibrahim, a negotiating member of the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK), told North Press that the French delegation emphasized the need to expedite dialogue with the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) and work towards achieving Kurdish unity.
On Monday, Mazloum Abdi, Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), met with a delegation from the U.S.-led Global Coalition and representatives of ENKS to discuss issues related to Kurdish cohesion.
Ibrahim stated, “We discussed the topics raised during the meeting between SDF’s commander, the Global Coalition delegation, and ENKS.”
He added that they conveyed to the French delegation their willingness to support any initiative aimed at unifying the Kurdish stance and addressing all issues through dialogue.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, French and American delegations have held numerous meetings with PYNK and ENKS parties to foster a unified Kurdish vision and demands in Syria.
The PYNK parties include the Democratic Union Party (PYD) and are operating in the areas run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
On the other hand, some members of the ENKS parties operate in Syria while others are abroad. They joined the Syrian National Council (SNC) with the start of the Syria revolution against the toppled regime of Bashar al-Assad.
