U.S. airstrike in Syria kills ISIS members, destroys weapon shipment
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday that it conducted a precision airstrike in eastern Syria, targeting Islamic State (ISIS) operatives and their resources.
The operation, carried out in Deir ez-Zor, led to the killing of two ISIS members and the injury of another, according to a CENTCOM statement.
The strike destroyed a shipment of weapons in an area that was previously under the control of the ousted Syrian regime and Russian forces.
“This airstrike is part of CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment, along with partners in the region,” the statement read. “
The CENTCOM added that the operation aimed to disrupt and degrade ISIS’ ability to plan, coordinate, and execute attacks against civilians and military personnel, whether targeting the United States, its allies, or its partners both in the region and beyond.
