SDF announces death of 16 fighters in NE Syria

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Tuesday that 16 of their fighters were killed while defending against attacks by Turkish forces and their affiliated armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), on various areas in northeastern Syria.

A statement by the SDF detailed that the fighters successfully repelled assaults in several areas, including Aleppo countryside, Manbij, Qaraqozaq Bridge, Tishrin Dam, and the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

The SDF revealed that the Manbij Military Council, operating under its command, had launched a counteroffensive against Turkish-backed SNA factions near the Tishrin Dam, southeast of Manbij.

The SDF said their forces thwarted an attempted infiltration and attack by SNA factions on the village of al-Aliyah, west of Tel Tamr in the countryside of Hasakah.

During the operation, three militants were killed, two others wounded, and a military vehicle equipped with a heavy machine gun was destroyed.

The SDF accused Turkey of deliberately escalating tensions across multiple fronts to divert attention and ease pressure on critical areas such as the Tishrin Dam and Qaraqozaq.

In another development, the SDF announced that two militants of Turkish-backed SNA factions were killed during an infiltration attempt in the village of Umm al-Baramil in the northern countryside of Raqqa.
