DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Khulaifi, met on Monday with Ahmad Al-Sharaa, head of the Operations Directorate in Damascus, marking the first high-level Qatari visit to Syria in over a decade.
Earlier today, the Qatari delegation, led by Al-Khulaifi, arrived in Damascus following 13 years of severed relations with the former Syrian regime.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the visit as “a reaffirmation of the strong fraternal relations between Qatar and Syria.” The ministry also emphasized Qatar’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people and safeguarding Syria’s sovereignty and independence.
Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, stated that the delegation will hold a series of meetings with Syrian officials.
Meanwhile, Al-Arabiya reported that a Saudi delegation, headed by a royal court advisor, also met with Al-Sharaa at the People’s Palace in Damascus. However, no details have been disclosed regarding the outcome of that meeting.
