German envoy warns of civilian risks in northern Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – German Special Envoy for Syria, Stefan Schneck, expressed on Sunday deep concern about the intensifying conflict between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish-backed armed factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), in northern Syria.

Schneck warned, via his official X in Arabic, that further escalation could have devastating consequences for civilians and undermine the broader international efforts against terrorism and the political resolution of the Syrian conflict.

He stated that he had spoken with SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazlum Abdi regarding the rising tensions in Kobani and discussed potential measures to de-escalate the situation.

The escalation of hostilities in northern Syria, fueled by Turkish forces and their affiliated SNA factions, has continued since the fall of the Assad regime.
