Over 30,000 military personnel apply for settlement across Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Over 30,000 military personnel of the al-Assad regime’s army applied till Saturday night in settlement centers across Syria.
On Saturday, the first settlement center was opened in Damascus. The center is dedicated to regularizing the security status of former regime army personnel and officers and has already started receiving hundreds of applications from those seeking settlement.
According to the Syrian newspaper al-Watan, citing media sources, the total number of applicants has reached 34,048, distributed across several provinces, Aleppo (3,500 applicants), Hama (3,533), Idlib (372), Homs (225), Deir ez-Zor (2,000), Daraa (1,000), Latakia (11,394), Tartus (10,000).
Mohammad Abdul Rahman, the Minister of Interior in the caretaker Syrian government, stated that settlement centers continue to welcome former regime personnel, provided they have not committed war crimes against the Syrian people.
