SDF Reports Killing 52 Turkish-Backed Fighters Near Tishreen Dam, Northern Syria
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced the death of 52 members of Turkish-backed factions in fierce clashes near the Tishreen Dam.
In a statement, the SDF confirmed that its forces targeted Turkish-backed fighters, including senior commanders, during confrontations in the vicinity of the dam. They also reported destroying two armored vehicles, a tank, and seizing quantities of weapons and ammunition.
The clashes erupted following an attack by the factions, supported by Turkish drones, on the Tishreen Dam and surrounding areas. The SDF-affiliated Manbij Military Council responded, engaging in intense fighting that lasted until Saturday evening.
The statement noted that the armed groups retreated and regrouped at a military site near the dam, where they were again targeted by SDF forces, resulting in numerous casualties and injuries.
This escalation marks another violent episode in the ongoing conflict between Turkish-backed factions and the SDF in northern Syria.
