Israeli forces arrest 2 people in southern Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces arrested on Saturday two individuals and demolished three houses in the countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.
A local source told North Press that Israeli forces, accompanied by bulldozers, advanced into the western part of al-Rafid town in Quneitra’s countryside, where they destroyed three homes and uprooted surrounding trees.
The source added that the affected houses belonged to civilians with no known military ties, and the reason for their demolition remains unclear.
Local residents speculated that the demolitions might be aimed at clearing space to create a route for Israeli forces to more easily move in and out of the area in the future.
The source also said that two individuals were arrested in the town of Jabah in southern Quneitra after they approached United Nations peacekeepers stationed in the area, inadvertently leading them toward Israeli-controlled territory.
The arrests occurred after the two men engaged in conversation with U.N. personnel, who did not intervene to secure their release.
Following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, the Israeli forces have increased its presence in Quneitra, conducting numerous airstrikes on Syrian military targets, including weapons depots and military equipment.
