SDF accuses Turkey of ceasefire violations amid escalating attacks
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) accused on Wednesday Turkey of repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement, alleging that Turkey and its affiliated armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), have escalated attacks across key areas, including Kobani, the Tishrin Dam, and Ain Issa town in northern Syria, despite ongoing U.S. efforts to de-escalate tensions.
In a statement, the SDF reported that Turkey-backed SNA factions, supported by Turkish air and ground forces, launched a “comprehensive attack” on the Tishrin Dam area from multiple directions on Thursday morning.
Intense clashes are underway between the Manbij Military Council, a component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the attackers, with heavy Turkish drone activity reported.
The SDF claimed that the previous night, the SNA factions attacked the Tishrin Dam area from three directions, with support from Turkish drones.
According to the statement, 37 SNA militants were killed and dozens injured during the assault. Additionally, the SDF announced they had downed a Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drone near the Qaraqozak bridge.
In Ain Issa town, the Turkish drones targeted a vehicle in the village of Hoshan on Wednesday evening, while mortar and artillery fire struck villages east of Ain Issa and west of Tel Abyad, according to the SDF.
The SDF accused Turkey and its affiliated factions of exploiting the ceasefire to intensify their attacks, advance colonial ambitions, and mislead public opinion.
