ISIS ambush in Syrian Desert kills civilian on wedding trip
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Members of the Islamic State (ISIS) targeted on Monday a civilian car east of Homs, central Syria, killing the driver.
A local source from Palmyra reported that ISIS militants set up an ambush, or flying checkpoint, on the international road between al-Sukhnah and Palmyra.
They opened fire on the vehicle of 54-year-old Aboud al-Ahmad al-Raj’a when he failed to stop at the checkpoint.
The attack resulted in the immediate death of al-Raj’a, while the ISIS militants retreated deeper into the desert.
Al-Raj’a, a farmer from Palmyra, had been in al-Sukhnah to attend a relative’s wedding at the time of the incident.
