Israeli forces advance in Syria’s Daraa sparking panic among residents

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – The western countryside of Daraa in southern Syria witnessed on Tuesday a fresh incursion by Israeli forces, marking another development amid Israel’s continued military operations on Syrian territory.

A local source told North Press that Israeli military vehicles entered the village of Saida al-Jolan, south of Daraa, early Tuesday morning, navigating through its streets before settling in the central square.

The sight of Israeli tanks caused widespread panic among residents, many of whom have remained confined to their homes.

The source added that the presence of military vehicles is likely to be followed by the arrival of Israeli troops tasked with searching homes and looking for weapons.

This mirrors operations previously carried out in other towns, including Abidin and Maariyah.

Israel has escalated its military activity in Syria in recent years, with frequent airstrikes and cross-border incursions.

Following previous operations, Israeli officials claimed they had “crippled the capabilities of the Syrian army in the largest air campaign in Israel’s history.”

The village of Saida al-Jolan is situated over 2 kilometers from the ceasefire line, while Israeli incursions in Quneitra have reportedly extended up to 4 kilometers into Syrian territory.
