AANES launches initiative for dialogue to build new Syria

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) launched on Monday an initiative to foster Syrian dialogue aimed at building a new, unified Syria, and called for an urgent meeting in Damascus.

In its statement, the AANES emphasized that collaboration with the political leadership in Damascus “would serve the interests of all Syrians and facilitate a successful resolution to the current challenges.”

The statement expressed appreciation for the positive role played by Arab nations and international allies in supporting the Syrian people across all communities. It underscored the need for continued support to establish a new Syria that guarantees the rights of all groups, grounded in democratic principles and paving the way for comprehensive national dialogue.

The ten-point initiative included commitments to preserving the unity and sovereignty of Syrian territory, protecting it from Turkish aggression, and halting all military operations nationwide to enable a comprehensive national dialogue.

The statement stressed the fair distribution of economic resources to ensure wealth is shared equitably among all Syrian regions.

Additionally, it emphasized continuing the fight against terrorism, in collaboration with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Global Coalition, to prevent the resurgence of the Islamic State (ISIS).

The initiative called on promoting tolerance and unity among Syrians, rejecting hate speech and accusations of betrayal, and fostering mutual understanding, in addition to ensuring active participation of women in the political process.

Moreover, the statement urged to guarantee the return of displaced to their homes, end demographic engineering policies, and end the occupation and entrusting the Syrian people with the right to determine their future, in accordance with the principles of good neighborliness.

The initiative also welcomed the constructive involvement of Arab nations, the United Nations, the international coalition, and other key global powers in resolving the Syrian crisis. It called on these actors to play a positive role in bridging gaps and fostering unity among Syrian stakeholders.

The AANES concluded by urging all Syrian political forces to convene urgently in Damascus to align visions for a transitional phase that prioritizes the rights and aspirations of the Syrian people.
