ISIS to raise its head in Syria once again – Russia

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Russia’s Ministry if foreign Affairs said on Wednesday that there is a real danger that the Islamic State group (ISIS) would raise again in Syria.

“Today, there is a real danger that the Islamic State group will once again raise its head in Syria,” Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters.

Ryabkov added that ISIS and “all those structures that preceded the emergence of such associations will once again raise their heads there.”

“This is an alarming moment, I would not like the country to turn into a source of instability and a source of terrorist threats,” Ryabkov noted.

Ryabkov’s notes came following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime on Dec. 8 after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led by Abu Mohammad al-Julani, seized power.
