Syriac Military Council calls for unity in post-Assad Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syriac Military Council, a component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), urged on Monday members of the Syriac-Assyrian-Chaldean community in Syria to join their ranks in the wake of the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

The Council said this marks a significant step in the effort to build a modern, democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syria.

The Council pledged full protection for those who wish to contribute to the nation’s rebuilding, offering an open invitation to individuals eager to take steps toward reform and service.

“We have sacrificed our finest fighters, who attained martyrdom for the cause of a new Syria,” the statement read in Arabic.

It emphasized its commitment to creating a nation that honors the diverse and original components of its society.

In the face of ongoing challenges, the Syriac Military Council vowed to remain resolute on the frontlines, safeguarding their community and continuing the mission of their fallen comrades.

The statement concluded with a pledge to persist in their struggle, with a firm belief in eventual victory.

This statement comes in the wake of significant developments in Syria, where earlier on Sunday, it was announced that Bashar al-Assad, the long-standing president, has been ousted. Power has shifted to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and allied factions after 12 days of intense clashes with forces loyal to the former regime.
