Turkish drone strike kills 12 people, children in Raqqa
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Twelve individuals, most of them children from the same family, were killed on Sunday night in a Turkish drone strike in the northern countryside of Raqqa, northern Syria.
The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stated, “The Turkish occupation army targeted the village of al-Mustariha, west of Ain Issa, using a drone.”
Heart-wrenching footage shared by activists shows rubble and scattered bodies in the aftermath of the strike.
The name of the victims are: Mahmoud Ibrahim al-Aido, 70, Mustafa al-Aido, 45, his wife Ruqayya, 40, Kawthar al-Aido, 16, Luma al-Aido, 17, Abdelqader al-Aido, 7, Mustafa al-Aido, 3, Turkkiyah Mahmoud al-Aido, 27, and three of her children, as well as Fawzia al-Aido, 27 and her 3-year-old daughter were killed.
This attack comes amid an ongoing offensive by Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA) against areas in northern Syria.
For several days, these factions have been advancing from three directions toward Manbij, prompting resistance from the city’s military council.
