DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli military announced on Friday an increase in its ground and air forces in the Golan Heights, citing the rapidly evolving situation in Syria’s ongoing conflict.
In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that following an ongoing assessment by the General Staff and Northern Command, and in light of the recent developments in Syria’s internal conflict, the IDF has enhanced its air and ground deployments in the Golan Heights region.
The statement highlighted the deployment of Israeli army units along the border with Syria, tasked with monitoring developments and preparing for a range of offensive and defensive scenarios.
The IDF reaffirmed its stance against border threats, warning that it would act decisively to neutralize any risks to Israel’s security.
Israeli media reports revealed that the Regional Division 210 had been mobilized to the Syrian border, amid fears that the Syrian conflict could spiral out of control, bringing violence closer to the border and potentially threatening nearby Israeli settlements.
Since Nov. 27, Syria has experienced intense clashes between government forces and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).
These battles have resulted in HTS and allied groups gaining control over significant areas of Syrian territory.
