Mazloum Abdi calls for inclusive dialogue in Syria’s future

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, stated on Friday that they are “ready to engage in dialogue with all parties” and should be included in international meetings on the future of Syria.

During a press conference in the city of Hasakah, Northeast Syria, Abdi revealed that United Nations representatives are in touch with the SDF to help shape a political resolution for Syria.

He emphasized that with the assistance of the Global Coalition, they have successfully evacuated displaced civilians from the northern countryside of Aleppo to northeastern Syria.

He also disclosed that the SDF has established a communication channel with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) to assist in evacuating the remaining civilians.

“We are ready to engage in dialogue with all parties and should be included in international meetings about Syria, particularly those focused on UNSC Resolution 2254,” Abdi noted, noting the ongoing efforts by the U.N.

He also highlighted that the rapid developments following the withdrawal of Syrian government forces have left a vacuum in several regions, especially in the Syrian desert.

Abdi reassured that necessary measures have been taken, and joint efforts with the Global Coalition to counter the ISIS threat continue with increased resolve.

Additionally, he expressed concern over Turkey’s threats to attack Manbij and other northern Syrian areas, stressing ongoing efforts to resolve outstanding issues with Turkey through diplomatic channels involving the Global Coalition and Russia.
