Human rights organization documents killing of IDPs in northern Aleppo

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A human rights organization said on Thursday they documented killings and arrests against displaced people from the northern countryside of Aleppo after Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), seized control.

In its latest report, the Rights Defense Initiative (RDI), an organization monitoring violations in Syria, documented several cases of violence, including the killing of Abdulmanan Abdullah by Turkish-backed SNA factions.

Abdullah, a former political prisoner who spent eight years in Saydnaya Prison in Damascus, was reportedly killed following a verbal altercation with SNA militants.

Activists and human rights advocates had warned of potential violations against thousands of displaced individuals stranded in northern Aleppo following the factions’ advance into Tel Rifaat.

Another victim, Ahmad Hesso, was also killed by the SNA factions while attempting to flee Tel Rifaat. They also stole his car after killing him.

The report also highlighted the arrest of Dijwar, a 25-year-old from Baadina village in Afrin, as he attempted to return home.

In a separate incident, 55-year-old Hanif Mohammad from the village of Kurzeleh was beaten in front of his wife during their return to Afrin. His wife was also assaulted while trying to intervene.

Random arrests and acts of violence were documented in the villages of Ziyara and Aqiba. Witnesses reported that detainees were being tortured publicly in the town squares.

Adding to the evidence, the RDI released an audio recording of a militant from one of the SNA factions. In the recording, the militant casually acknowledges the killing of civilians, stating, “The one you are talking about is dead. He had a white van, we killed them all.

The militant also mentions the death of an elderly woman whose identity he did not know.
