Coalition praises SDF for deploying fighters in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The U.S.-led Global Coalition announced on Tuesday that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have deployed fighters to safeguard seven villages in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, in response to escalating threats from the terrorist group.
In a statement, the Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force-Levant (SOJTF_LEVANT), highlighted the move as a proactive step against rising security concerns.
“In response to rising security threats, the SDF have deployed forces to safeguard the villages in Deir Ezzor,” the SOJTF said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Deir ez-Zor Military Council, which operates under the SDF’s command, officially assumed responsibility for protecting these villages in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, underscoring its commitment to local security.
The villages of al-Hussainiyah, al-Salihiyah, Hatla, Marrat, Mazloum, Khsham, and al-Tabiyyah have been under the control of the Syrian government forces and Iranian-backed militias since the expulsion of the Islamic State (ISIS) in late 2017.
The SOJTF reaffirmed its strong partnership with the SDF, describing it as “our partner of choice in the region” in defeating ISIS.
