First Convoys of Displaced from Aleppo Arrive in Kurdish region Amid Ongoing Siege
TABQA, Syria (North Press) – The first convoy of displaced individuals from northern Aleppo arrived in Tabqa, located in the Raqqa countryside, late Monday following weeks of siege by Turkish-backed opposition factions.
Earlier, a Self-Administration official confirmed that emergency shelters were prepared in Tabqa and Raqqa to accommodate thousands of displaced families fleeing violence and restrictions in the Aleppo countryside, particularly from Tal Rifaat and surrounding areas.
Ongoing Siege and Challenges
Despite this development, hundreds of families remain trapped in northern Aleppo, unable to cross into areas controlled by the Self-Administration in North and East Syria. The Turkish-backed Syrian National Army continues to impose a blockade on several Kurdish-majority towns and villages, raising fears of violence and persecution.
Sources from northern Aleppo reported that the majority of convoys prepared for displacement are still stranded in the region due to the siege. Many families face severe shortages of food, medical supplies, and basic necessities as they wait for an opportunity to escape.
Appeals for International Assistance
Local officials and humanitarian organizations have issued urgent calls for international intervention to secure safe passage for civilians and address the mounting humanitarian needs of the displaced.
The ongoing situation in northern Aleppo underscores the growing humanitarian crisis in Syria, with civilians bearing the brunt of conflict and political instability.
