Kurdish administration in Northeast Syria Prepares to Host Over 120,000 Displaced from Aleppo

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Self-Administration in North and East Syria has set up emergency shelters in Raqqa and Tabqa to accommodate thousands of displaced people fleeing Tal Rifaat in northern Aleppo. The region has seen intensified violence, with Turkish-backed opposition factions blocking civilians’ movements.

Sheikhmous Ahmed, Director of the Office of Displaced Persons and Refugees in the Self-Administration, told North Press on Monday that initial shelters have been established, including the municipal stadium in Tabqa and several schools. Additional facilities in Raqqa are being prepared to address the escalating needs.

The first convoy, comprising over 120,000 people, is expected to arrive at the Tabqa crossing late Monday, according to field sources and Self-Administration officials.

Emergency Services on Alert

Medical teams and ambulances affiliated with the Health Authority in North and East Syria have been stationed near the Tabqa crossing, prepared to provide immediate care to those requiring urgent medical assistance.

The Self-Administration is expected to issue an official statement later today outlining its preparations and response plan for this large-scale displacement.

Calls for International Support

Ahmed appealed to international humanitarian organizations operating in northern and eastern Syria to provide assistance.

“We urgently need support to meet the basic needs of these displaced individuals, who have fled their homes under dire circumstances,” he said.

The displacement from Tal Rifaat highlights the growing humanitarian challenges in northern Syria, as hostilities between warring factions continue to endanger civilian lives.
