Coalition, SDF launch joint drills in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A source from the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS said on Monday that the Coalition’s forces will conduct joint military drills with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.

The source added that the drills are set to take place later in the day and are part of ongoing efforts to enhance counterterrorism readiness.

The Coalition and the SDF, key partners in the fight against ISIS, frequently conduct operations targeting ISIS sleeper cells to prevent its resurgence in the region.

According to the source, the joint drills are a “necessary preparation to track and counter the terrorist organization,” underscoring the persistent threat posed by ISIS remnants.

Meanwhile, the situation in northwestern Syria remains volatile. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front), has reportedly taken control of Aleppo city and the entire Idlib region, signaling a shift in military and field dynamics in the area.
