Turkish shelling disrupts Tel Tamr electrical substation in NE Syria
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Turkish artillery fire targeted on Sunday areas in the countryside of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, causing significant disruptions at the Tel Tamr electrical substation.
Amin Mouseqli, head of the Tel Tamr electricity center, confirmed that the substation is currently out of service due to damage to high-voltage cables on the 66 kV line near the village of Umm al-Keif.
This line is crucial for supplying electricity from the city of Hasakah to the substation, which powers Tel Tamr and its surrounding areas.
In a statement to North Press, Mouseqli explained that attempts to reach the damage site and assess the situation were hindered by ongoing Turkish artillery bombardments.
“We are waiting for the situation to stabilize before moving forward with repairs,” he added.
Earlier reports from a military source indicated that Turkish forces also shelled the villages of Qubur al-Qarajnah and Sheikh Ali, located north of Tel Tamr.
Although no casualties were reported, the attacks have heightened tension in the area.
The Tel Tamr area, known for its diverse population and strategic location, frequently experiences such hostilities, exacerbating the humanitarian and infrastructure challenges faced by residents.
