SDF calls for general mobilization amid escalating Turkish-led attack
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) issued on Sunday a call for communities across northern and eastern Syria to mobilize in a state of general alert, urging close coordination with the SDF and the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) to confront a major escalation in the region.
In a statement, the SDF described the offensive as a large-scale attack orchestrated by Turkey with the intent of occupying Syrian territories, specifically targeting the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The SDF added that the attack has already caused significant shifts, with Syrian government forces collapsing in parts of Aleppo Governorate and other areas.
The SDF warned of a plan aimed at “widespread extermination” of communities in the northern countryside of Aleppo, known as the Shahba Region.
Despite the overwhelming challenges, the SDF highlighted ongoing resistance, particularly along the Manbij front in northern Syria, where fighters are engaged in fierce battles to defend the region.
“The current war is a noble struggle for humanity and human dignity. It is a war to protect the values of freedom and civilization against the obscurantist ideologies of ISIS and Erdogan,” the statement read.
Earlier, the AANES announced a state of general mobilization due to the ongoing events in Syria.
