AANES declares general mobilization amid escalation in north Syria

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced on Sunday a general military mobilization in response to the ongoing escalation in northwestern Syria.

In a strongly worded statement, the AANES described the Turkish attacks as an extension of what ISIS failed to achieve, warning that the offensive endangers not only specific regions but all of Syria.

They labeled the aggression as “a new iteration of ISIS terrorism with regional and global implications.”

Highlighting the ongoing “resistance” in Aleppo and the northern countryside, known as the Shahba Region, the statement praised the resilience of the local population in confronting Turkish advances.

The AANES emphasized the international community’s responsibility to act decisively against Turkey’s actions, warning of an impending humanitarian crisis if the aggression is left unchecked.

In a call to action, the AANES urged its institutions to fully mobilize and adopt crisis management measures to address the challenges.

It also appealed to the youth of North and East Syria to stand with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in defending the region against the Turkish offensive.

Since Nov. 27, Syrian government forces have lost vast areas in northwestern Syria due to an ongoing attacks by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known al-Nusra Front) and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).
