Government warplanes strike as SNA factions push deeper into Hama
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Warplanes of Syrian government forces and Russian forces launched on Sunday heavy airstrikes targeting strategic locations in the southern countryside of Idlib and northern countryside of Hama, western Syria.
The strikes came after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly Jabhat al-Nusra,) and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syria National Army (SNA), announced their entry into the city of Hama, following their capture of all of Idlib and significant parts of Aleppo Governorate.
State media reported that joint Syrian-Russian warplanes struck SNA’s movements, vehicles, and command posts in the southern and southeastern countryside of Idlib, as well as Ghab Plain in Hama countryside.
Local broadcaster Sham FM confirmed that the government forces and affiliated militias had regained full control of the village of Maardes in the north of Hama.
The report highlighted extensive combing operations within the village and the arrival of substantial military reinforcements to Hama city.
Meanwhile, opposition media reported that HTS and the affiliated factions had captured over 730 square kilometers across Aleppo and Idlib governorates as part of their operation.
