Israeli airstrikes kill 6 people in central Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Six people were killed on Tuesday, including two government personnel, and 12 others were injured following Israeli airstrikes targeting border crossings in the western countryside of Homs, near the Syria-Lebanon border.
The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Israeli bombardment struck two locations in the Homs countryside, causing significant material damage.
According to Syria’s state-run news agency SANA, a military source said that Israeli aircraft launched the airstrikes at 00:05 AM, from Lebanese airspace.
The targets were the border crossings between Syria and Lebanon in the west of Homs.
The source further added that the airstrikes resulted in the killing of six individuals, including two soldiers, while the remaining casualties were civilians.
Among the injured were 12 people, including children, women, and workers from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC). The attack also caused extensive material damage to the targeted sites.
Moreover, the SARC announced that one of its volunteers was killed and several others were wounded while responding to the airstrikes at the al-Dabousiyah and al-Arida crossings in the Homs and Tartus.
The SARC workers were performing their rescue duties when they came under fire.
