Residents Discover Body of Government Forces Member in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Residents in Syria’s southern province of Daraa discovered the body of a government forces member on Saturday, following his disappearance over a month ago.

According to a local source, residents found the body of Youssef Fawzi Abu Ras, an operative affiliated with the Military Security Branch, near the village of al-Yadudah in western Daraa.

Abu Ras was originally from the town of Qeita in northern Daraa but had been residing with his family in Muzayrib, located in the northwestern countryside of Daraa, for several years.

The source noted that Abu Ras went missing about a month and a half ago while reportedly en route to the town of Jalin. His body, discovered on Saturday, bore signs of gunshot wounds.

Since a Russian-mediated settlement agreement was established in 2018, Daraa has faced ongoing security instability, with frequent assassinations and attacks. To date, no group has claimed responsibility for the latest killing, nor for many of the other violent incidents that have plagued the area.
