Dozens of families relocate due to escalation in northwestern Syria

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – The countryside of Idlib and Aleppo in northwestern Syria experienced on Friday the displacement of dozens of families due to renewed military escalation in the region.

Local sources told North Press that over 250 families have fled villages and towns including in the eastern countryside of Idlib and the countryside of Aleppo.

The displacement, which began on Friday afternoon, continues this morning, with most families heading toward the Syrian-Turkish border in the north of Idlib or Afrin and Azaz in the north Aleppo. This movement is taking place under challenging conditions, exacerbated by poor weather.

Moreover, the Syrian government forces targeted frontlines in the Idlib and Aleppo countryside with approximately 190 artillery and rocket shells, resulting in the deaths of three members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front), according to military sources.

This escalation coincides with renewed reports of HTS and other opposition factions preparing for a potential military offensive against government positions in the area.
