KNC appreciates U.S. support for intra-Kurdish dialogue in Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Spokesperson for the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC), Faisal Youssef, expressed on Saturday appreciation for the U.S. support for Kurdish dialogue in Syria, emphasizing their readiness to resume the negotiations.

Youssef told North Press that the U.S. emphasis on linking the intra-Kurdish dialogue to enhancing transparency, inclusivity in local governance, and promoting regional stability is a direction that receives their attention and appreciation.

The KNC is a bloc of Kurdish political parties in Syria affiliated with the Turkish-backed opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC).

Earlier, the U.S. State Department told North Press that it continues to support intra-Kurdish dialogue in Syria and expressed hope for sustained progress in this effort.

He reaffirmed the KNC’s willingness to resume the previously stalled negotiations facilitated under U.S. sponsorship, referring to the 2021 document signed between the U.S. State Department and Commander in chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi.

This agreement underscored the need to restart talks between the KNC and the Kurdish National Unity Parties (PYNK).

Youssef highlighted that the document outlines key principles aimed at building trust, halting violations, and curbing divisive media campaigns, which he described as crucial for fostering mutual trust and advancing the dialogue process.
