206 attacks target U.S. forces in Middle East since Oct 2023 – Pentagon

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The U.S. Department of Defense announced late Friday night that U.S. forces had been targeted in 206 attacks across the Middle East between Oct. 18, 2023, and Nov. 21, 2024.

Since the onset of the Gaza war, U.S. military bases in Syria, Iraq, and Jordan have come under attack by groups linked to Iran. In response, U.S. forces conducted airstrikes targeting facilities and personnel associated with Iranian interests.

According to the Pentagon, these attacks included 125 in Syria, 79 incidents in Iraq, and two in Jordan.

Currently, about 2,500 U.S. troops are stationed in Iraq and approximately 900 in Syria as part of the U.S-led Global Coalition working alongside Iraqi forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to combat the Islamic State (ISIS).
