Israeli airstrike suspected to kill senior Hezbollah leader in Beirut

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli warplanes launched on Saturday an airstrike targeting the Lebanese capital, Beirut, amid reports of the death of a high-ranking Hezbollah leader.

The Times of Israel reported that the strike in the “Basta Fawqa” neighborhood of central Beirut targeted Talal Hamiya, a senior Hezbollah figure known as “The Ghost.”

Hamiya earned this nickname due to his rare public appearances and the scarcity of information about him. According to media reports, he is responsible for Hezbollah’s external operations and oversees the organization’s international cells.

Hebrew sources told Al Arabiya TV channel that Israel carried out an assassination deep in Beirut.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed that four people were killed and 23 others injured in the attack, which involved bunker-busting bombs and missiles.

So far, neither Hezbollah nor official Lebanese authorities have commented on the reported death of Hamiya.
