Israeli airstrikes hit Palmyra, targeting Syrian, Iranian positions

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Israeli warplanes launched on Wednesday a series of airstrikes in the city of Palmyra, located in central Syria’s Homs Governorate.

The attacks targeted a military airport and Iranian-linked sites, resulting in the killing of several officers of the Syrian government forces, military sources reported.

A source told North Press that four airstrikes struck sites within Palmyra, while two additional strikes hit near the T4 Military Airport, about 40 kilometers from the city.

Pro-government media reported that the strikes also hit residential areas in Palmyra, causing injuries that were transported to Palmyra National Hospital.

Preliminary reports from the local Athar Press stated that six people were injured.

Opposition-affiliated outlets claimed that the attacks targeted Iranian militia positions in the vicinity of Palmyra, describing the area as a strategic base for such groups.

These strikes follow Israeli air raids earlier this week in the Mezzeh neighborhood of Damascus, which reportedly killed several senior leaders of the Islamic Jihad Movement, according to the group.
