HTS executes 2 government officers in Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, once known as al-Nusra Front) executed on Sunday two officers of Syrian government forces in Idlib Governorate in northwestern Syria.

The officers were among seven government personnel captured in early October near Turkmen Mountain, a mountainous area in the northern countryside of Latakia on the Syrian coast.

A senior administrator within HTS told North Press that the group’s “Shura Council” authorized the executions of First Lieutenant Tareq al-Abdo and Captain Dulama Ali. Both officers served in the Syrian government’s Fourth Armored Division.

The executions took place in the courtyard of al-Zuwayba Prison, located in Sheikh Bahr village west of Idlib, early Sunday morning.

The source also revealed that another high-ranking officer, a colonel, remains among the captives currently held at Harem Prison in the northwestern countryside of Idlib.

The HTS has previously carried out similar executions of government personnel, including incidents in February and April earlier this year.
