ISIS militants attack oil tankers in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) attacked on Sunday oil tankers in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria.
According to a local source, ISIS militants attacked two oil tankers early Sunday morning near the main road in the town of Abu Khashab, north of Deir ez-Zor, causing one tanker to spill its load and sustain significant damage.
The source noted that the attackers shouted pro-ISIS slogans, issuing further threats against tanker operators.
A similar incident occurred on Saturday when ISIS militants targeted a convoy of oil tankers traveling through the same town, injuring one driver and damaging multiple tankers.
Two days prior, ISIS militants warned tanker drivers to cease operations after a separate attack on tankers in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
