ISIS cells attack oil tankers in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) attacked on Thursday oil tankers in the northern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A tanker driver told North Press that two ISIS militants on a motorcycle opened fire using a Kalashnikov on the tankers in the desert near the village of Ruwayshid, north of Deir ez-Zor, causing material damage but no injuries.
The driver reported that the gunmen threatened the tanker drivers with death if they continued transporting oil products, before fleeing the scene while chanting ISIS slogans.
After attacking the tankers, the gunmen also set fire to an oil reservoir in the same desert area, according to the source.
