SDC co-chair hopes Trump’s leadership brings peace to Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), Layla Qaraman, extended on Thursday her best wishes to President Donald Trump on election victory, expressing optimism that his leadership will positively impact the Middle East.

In a congratulatory message on her official X, Qaraman voiced hopes that Trump’s policies would focus on ending conflicts in the region, specifically mentioning the Syrian crisis.

She also expressed a desire for increased global cooperation to counter terrorism, emphasizing the need for peace and security on an international scale.

Donald Trump’s 2024 victory marks his return to the U.S. presidency, sparking interest worldwide, especially regarding his policies in the Middle East and Syria.

Trump previously reduced U.S. military involvement in the region, including a controversial partial withdrawal from Syria, which led to Turkish invasions and occupation of the two cities of Tel Abyad and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in northern Syria.
