Unidentified gunmen attack 5 oil tankers in Raqqa
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown gunmen targeted on Sunday oil tankers on the road connecting Raqqa and Hasakah in Northeast Syria.
A driver of one of the tankers told North Press that gunmen riding a motorcycle attacked five tankers, causing significant damage and spilling their cargo on the road.
The driver added that the attack resulted in no human casualties.
The Hasakah-Raqqa road serves as a crucial transit corridor for tankers transporting oil from Northeast Syria to areas controlled by the Syrian government.
Recently, the Islamic State group (ISIS) has stepped up its attacks on tankers carrying oil in both areas run by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) and the Syrian Desert controlled by the government forces.
