Turkish airstrikes inflict $100,000 in damages to facility in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish airstrike severely damaged a key feed and flour facility in the city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria, halting production and resulting in significant losses estimated at over $100,000, local officials said on Sunday.
Imad Sheikhi, the manager of the Jan Factory told North Press that Turkish airstrikes had caused damages and losses at the feed and flour warehouses amounting to approximately $100,000.
The manager of the factory, which is supported by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said that the facility, which produces livestock and poultry feed, has been completely shut down as a result of the bombardment.
Sheikhi added that they have not yet been able to carry out a detailed assessment of the factory’s damage, but the bombing destroyed 200 tons of feed, resulting in losses around $100,000.
Meanwhile, Nabila Muhammad, co-chair of the Agricultural Development Company, said that the Turkish airstrikes also targeted a flour warehouse in Qamishli, resulting in the loss of about 100 tons.
She told North Press that the estimated losses amount to around 80 million Syrian pounds (SYP, over $5,000), not accounting for the facility damages.
