Turkish shelling in Syria’s Manbij injures civilians, including child

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Renewed Turkish shelling across northern Syria on Saturday has left civilians injured, including a five-year-old child.

Manbij Military Council, a component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), said that the Turkish forces targeted the village of al-Jamousiya in the northwestern countryside of Manbij, northern Syria, with artillery.

The shelling resulted in the injury of the five-year-old Badr Sharif, according to the Council.  

In Hasakah Governorate, local sources reported that the Turkish forces resumed heavy shelling on the villages of al-Dardara and Umm al-Keif, northwest of the city of Hasakah, though no casualties were reported.

In Raqqa, Turkish artillery targeted the town of Ain Issa, north of the city of Raqqa, with footage capturing explosions and plumes of smoke.

Additionally, strikes impacted the city of Qamishli, the countryside of Derik (al-Malikiyah), and Aleppo northern countryside, locally known as Shahba region, where displaced people of Afrin have been taking shelter since 2018 following the Turkish “Olive Branch” military operation.  

Additionally, a Turkish drone strike in Derik’s (al-Malikiyah) industrial area near a prison holding ISIS members injured four women working at a dairy factory.  

Another round of shelling hit headquarters of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) in the town of Amuda, injuring eight civilians, who were transferred to hospitals Qamishli.

Earlier, the Turkish forces and their affiliated armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA),  targeted the town of Tel Rifaat and villages Aleppo northern countryside, locally known as Shahba region, where displaced people of Afrin have been taking shelter since 2018 following the Turkish “Olive Branch” military operation.
