Turkish airstrikes on NE Syria kill over 14 people – AANES

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) stated on Friday that Turkey’s recent attacks resulted in the killing of more than 14 people and injuries to 40 others, including women and children.

The AANES’ statement detailed that since Thursday evening, Oct. 24, Turkey has carried out 40 airstrikes. In addition, Turkish drones struck oil refineries in the Awda oil field in the eastern countryside of Qamishli 17 consecutive times, alongside attacks on key power and energy facilities.

These attacks have severely impacted the city of Kobani, and the towns of Tirbe Spiyeh (al-Qahtaniya) and Amuda, specifically devastating the electricity sector and leaving over 250,000 families without power, the statement added.

Targeting oil facilities and refineries has also had negative repercussions on the service, industrial, and agricultural sectors, the statement noted.

The AANES condemned the Turkish airstrikes, stressing that these aggressions threaten the extensive counterterrorism efforts led by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in collaboration with the U.S.-led Global Coalition.

The AANES denounced the international inaction towards these attacks, emphasizing that Turkey’s objective with these assaults is to escalate economic pressure on the region.

Additionally, the AANES urged the Global Coalition and all actors supporting stability to uphold their responsibility and take decisive action against these aggressions.
