Ilham Ahmad criticizes global silence on Turkish attacks in NE Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Senior official of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) sharply criticized on Thursday the silence of Turkey’s allies regarding recent Turkish attacks on the region.
Ilham Ahmad, co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of AANES, said that the ongoing silence in response to these violations is an even greater crime.
In a statement shared on X, Ahmad “strongly” condemned the Turkish airstrikes, which targeted civilian areas and vital infrastructure in Northeast Syria.
“We strongly condemn the criminal attacks carried out by Turkey on civilians and infrastructure,” she declared.
Ahmad accused Turkey of trying to impose its own laws on the international community, calling this approach disastrous.
She emphasized that Turkey’s repeated targeting of northern and northeastern Syria violates international law.
The AANES official urged the international community to end its silence, take responsibility, and play a key role in fostering a genuine political solution to the Kurdish issue in Turkey.
She stressed that efforts toward peace have been ongoing since the conflict began, yet Turkey’s aggressive actions continue unabated.
Early Thursday morning, Turkish forces launched a series of airstrikes on multiple towns and cities across northern and northeastern Syria, including Tel Rifaat, Manbij, Kobani, and Qamishli.
According to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), 12 civilians, including two children, were killed in the strikes, and 25 others were injured.
